Questions

We know packaging can get a bit complex, so we've put together some straightforward answers to your most common questions. From the nitty-gritty of our aluminum can options to the essentials of our freight and warehousing services, it's all here.

Whether you're deep in the beverage industry or just getting started, we're here to clear things up and make your decision easier.
What are the MOQ and lead time?

For printed cans, the MOQ is 300,000 units per SKU. However, please note that the manufacturer typically initiates production when the consolidated order reaches 6-7 million units. This is due to the operational efficiency required to switch over to a new print run. Contact us for detailed timelines based on your order quantity.

For blank cans and can ends, the MOQ is flexible and primarily depends on our current inventory status. It can be as low as one pallet. Please contact us to get specific information based on your requirements.

What certifications do your cans and ends hold?

Our cans and ends adhere to internationally recognized standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and FSSC 22000.

Can you provide samples before placing a bulk order?

Yes, we offer samples for both blank cans and ends. Simply send us an inquiry, and our business development managers will contact you to understand your specific needs. We'll arrange samples for you to test their quality, compatibility with your canning or filling processes, and how they fit with your current setup and machinery.

For printed cans, we provide options for live approval, as well as photos and videos during the commercial production run.

Do you provide door-to-door delivery or final mile services?

Absolutely. Our logistics team is ready to arrange door-to-door delivery for your convenience.

Alternatively, you have the option to organize your own pickup if that suits you better. Plus, with our warehousing services spread across North America, we offer flexible solutions to meet your needs. Don't hesitate to contact us for more information on the options available to you.

Where can I find your current pricing?

The all-important question of pricing - it changes. We adjust monthly to stay in line with aluminum costs, currency shifts, and freight rates. It's all about ensuring you get a fair deal every time. For the real numbers that fit your needs, just reach out. We've got a sell sheet ready with all the latest info and promos.

What are standard, sleek, and slim cans?

Yes, the names kind of give it away - the main difference lies in the can body diameter and the can ends options.

Standard Cans: Body Dia. 66 mm, fit 202 Can Ends
Sleek Cans: Body Dia. 57 mm, fit 202 Can Ends
Slim Cans: Body Dia. 53 mm, fit 200 Can Ends

The familiar 355 mL / 12 oz standard cans are great for a wide range of drinks. For something that feels more premium, you might consider the smaller 250 mL size. Sleek cans, on the other hand, are taller and often perceived as more elegant or health-conscious. It's all about choosing the style that best fits your beverage and brand identity.

Should I choose blank or printed cans?

It really depends on your brand's needs and the quantity you're looking for.

Printed cans allow for up to 7 colors, offering high-quality, detailed designs. However, they come with a higher minimum order quantity (MOQ).

Blank cans can be ordered in smaller quantities, even as little as a pallet. There's no one-size-fits-all answer; it's about what aligns best with your brand's vision and requirements.

What are EPOXY and BPANI internal coatings?

EPOXY and BPANI are types of internal coatings used inside cans to protect the beverage and preserve its taste.

EPOXY: the traditional choice, is widely recognized for its robust protective qualities and has been a reliable standard in the industry.

BPANI, or BPA-NI (Bisphenol A Non-Intent): a newer alternative that also offers strong protection, with an additional focus on health and environmental considerations.

Both coatings are effective, and the choice between them depends on your beverage type and your brand's specific priorities and standards.

What are Matte, Gloss, Retort, Tactile?

Can varnishes add both protective and aesthetic qualities to your cans.

Matte and gloss finishes affect the can's look and feel, with matte being more subdued and gloss offering a shiny finish.

Retort varnishes are used for cans that undergo high-heat processing, while tactile varnishes add a physical texture to the can's surface, enhancing the consumer's handling experience.

What do the numbers (200/202/206...) represent?

These numbers indicate the diameter of the can end. The most common sizes are 200 (typically used for slim cans) and 202 (common for standard and sleek cans).

LOE (Large Opening End): Designed for easy drinking and pouring. Offers a larger opening than standard can ends, enhancing the consumer experience, particularly for aromatic beverages.

SOE (Standard Opening End): This is the traditional opening size for beverage cans. It's designed for optimal sealing and convenience, maintaining the familiar can opening experience.FA (Full Aperture):

Full Aperture ends allow the entire top of the can to be removed, turning the can into a cup-like container. This design is ideal for products where a wide opening is beneficial, like certain craft beers or ready-to-eat foods.

What are embossed/incisions on can ends?

Embossed or incised markings on can ends comply with local regulations or serve promotional purposes. In Canada, they typically indicate "RECYCLABLE" or "RETURN FOR REFUND". In the United States, these can be in the form of 4-state, 6-state, 10-state, 11-state markings, or other designs, depending on local laws.

What are SOT and RPT?

SOT (Stay On Tab): This is the most common type of can end in North America, where the opening tab stays attached to the can after opening.

RPT (Ring Pull Tab): This design features a ring that is pulled to open the can. It's more common in certain countries in Asia and Europe.

What are B64 and CDL? How are they different?

B64: This is a traditional can end type, known for its compatibility with various filling and sealing machinery. It's widely used due to its reliability and standard design.

CDL (Countersink Double Seam Lid): A more modern and lightweight can end. It features a smaller diameter for material efficiency and is compatible with specific canning lines. CDL is distinguished by its advanced sealing capabilities, making it suitable for beverages requiring extended shelf life.

Why is aluminum considered the epitome of recyclability?

Aluminum is considered the epitome of recyclability because it can be recycled and reused infinitely without losing quality. This continuous cycle of use and reuse makes it an exceptionally sustainable material.

What is the process of recycling aluminum cans?

The recycling process for aluminum cans involves collecting and sorting scrap aluminum, which is then simply melted down to be reused in new products. This process bypasses the energy-intensive stages of mining and refining bauxite ore.
